Principal's Message

Welcome Back Students to the 2019-2020 School Year at  Brookfield High School!

It's hard to believe, but summer has come and gone. Time has certainly flown by. Last school year was a very successful one for BHS.  Our staff and student body committed themselves to improving our overall ACT scores as a part of our CSIP Plan. We took several steps to reach this goal by changing the scope and sequence of class offerings, including ACT type questioning in our instruction, 4 of our staff members have obtained ACT certification from Focus on Learning in Columbia, and those instructors offered subject specific ACT training sessions during Bulldog Hour and after school 2 weeks prior to each scheduled test.  While we have not received our official score from the state yet, initial figures show that we made substantial gains.  In addition to the success we have seen instructionally, we have also made great strides towards our goal of creating the best learning environment in the state of Missouri.  Nearly every room in the high school has now been painted Blue and Grey, and the flooring  has been replaced with new blue carpet. We created a new tech center which will have lounge space and coffee bar, collaboration stations with an interactive podium, versatile seating, and three big screen TVs.  With the partnership of Devoy-Baker Insurance, and the brainstorming/artwork of Nathan Stufflebean we have been able to provide every employee and student with a Brookfield T-shirt as we have the past two school years, and we will begin the school year teaching our freshmen and new students the words to our fight song (Loyalty) sending the message that we are ALL IN.  The student council has already begun plans for a welcome back assembly, a back to school bash dance, and an assembly to introduce all the clubs and organizations we offer to encourage all students to get involved.  We  are constantly looking for new ideas to help create an environment where every student feels wanted. There's no question that great things are happening here at BHS, and we are looking forward to getting the new school year kicked off.
